FEIGENBUTZ TARGETS WORLD HONOURS AFTER TKO WIN

“My goal is to fight for World titles,” “I want to test myself against the best boxers in the world, and I believe I am ready!”

FEIGENBUTZ TARGETS WORLD HONOURS AFTER TKO WIN

Vincent Feigenbutz (30-2, 27 KOs) celebrated his 30th career win on Saturday night as the German talent targets World honours following a fifth-round TKO victory over Przemyslaw Opalach (27-3, 22 KOs).

In his hometown of Karlsruhe, in front of a sold out crowd at the Ufgauhalle,  Feigenbutz produced a mature performance that belied his 23 years.

Feigenbutz dominated from the opening bell with a measured yet powerful display, which saw referee Joerg Milke wave off proceedings in the fifth round following another vicious onslaught from the young German.
With 48 knockouts between them, it was unlikely that the fight, billed as ‘The Battle of Karlsruhe, would go the distance, and while Feigenbutz improved his impressive 84% knockout ratio, Opalach suffered his first knockout defeat.

With 2019 getting off to the best possible start, Feigenbutz plans to continue his impressive rise up the super middleweight ranks as he sets his sights firmly on World glory. “My goal is to fight for World titles,” said Feigenbutz. “I want to test myself against the best boxers in the world, and I believe I am ready!”

“That was another impressive performance from Vince,” said promoter Nisse Sauerland. “He showed his maturity, and proved once again, why he is one of the most fearsome punchers in the division. There are a lot of exciting fights out there for him, and as he showed tonight, he would be a serious test for any of the big names in the division. It’s now our job to make those fights happen!”

On the undercard, Araik Marutjan produced the KO of the night as he caught his resilient opponent Islam Teffahi in the final round with a devastating looping right hand that had Teffahi asleep before he hit the canvas. The impressive victory saw the Ulli Wegner trained fighter and 2016 Olympian move to 8-0

BALL: TALK IS CHEAP – CRAIG RICHARDS IS GETTING KNOCKED OUT

“I’m learning new things every day and we all push each other to our limits. It’s brilliant to be involved in such a thriving gym and I’m already feeling the benefits. I’m looking forward to getting in there and being involved in Championship fights again. It’s time to show everyone what I’ve been working on with Dom, Craig better be ready.”

BALL: TALK IS CHEAP – CRAIG RICHARDS IS GETTING KNOCKED OUT
‘The Blade’ vows to silence ‘mouthy’ South London rival

Jake Ball has promised to knockout Craig Richards when they clash for the vacant WBA Continental Light-Heavyweight title this Saturday at The O2 in London, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.

The bitter rivals were scheduled to meet on the John Ryder vs. Andrey Sirotkin undercard at the Copper Box Arena in October, but a hand injury forced Ball to withdraw from the contest just days out, leaving Richards frustrated at his “embarrassing” opponent.

Ball fought once during an injury-plagued 2018, halting Philip Kotey in September, but with his hand fully recovered, ‘The Blade’ is looking to make a statement in his first fight under new trainer Dominic Ingle.

“It’s my first full camp with Dom and everything has gone really well,” said Ball. “I’ve improved all areas of my game since I moved to the Ingle Gym; speed, fitness and strength. There’s World class sparring for me with the likes of Billy Joe Saunders. To move onto that next level, you need to surround yourself with like-minded people and everyone in the gym is striving to be the best.

The pair traded insults at a heated press conference earlier this month, where Richards labelled “No Balls’” a “time-waster” and questioned whether the Surrey man genuinely wanted to share the ring with him in October. Ball insists he is unfazed by Richard’s accusations and is predicting an early night for ‘Spider’.

“He’s dwelling on the past,” said Ball. “He keeps on sounding off about dates in October and December, but if I was him I’d only have this Saturday on my mind. He still fought and got paid in October. I was the one that missed out on a pay check through injury. I don’t know why he’s frustrated – I should be the one that’s frustrated.

“He was very mouthy at the press conference, but I saw right through it. I could see fear in his eyes when we faced off. He doesn’t want this, he knows that I’m a level above him. The only opponents he’s fought at Light-Heavyweight, apart from Frank Buglioni, are 5′ 9″ journeymen.

“On Saturday he’ll be in against a massive 6’ 4” Light-Heavyweight. I’m a bigger puncher, better boxer and beat him in every department. He’s not going to know what hit him come Saturday. Actions speak a lot louder than any words I can say. Craig Richard is getting knocked out.

“I respect Craig and I know he’s a good fighter, but he isn’t as good as me and it’s as simple as that. I’m not going to talk him down though. I’m fighting Craig because he’s a decent level and I don’t want any easy knock overs. Like I say, he’s a good fighter, just not good enough.”

Ball vs. Richards is part of a huge night of action in London.

Bermondsey star Ted Cheeseman steps up again when he challenges undefeated Spaniard Sergio Garcia for the European Super-Welterweight crown.

Unbeaten British Cruiserweight Champion Lawrence Okolie returns to action as he defends his WBA Continental title against New York’s Shawn Miller.

Rising Wokingham Middleweight talent Felix Cash fights for his second professional title when he takes on Nigeria’s Abolaji Rasheed for the vacant Commonwealth strap.

Preston’s Scott Fitzgerald keeps busy in a six round contest ahead of his mouth-watering domestic clash with former GB teammate Anthony Fowler in March.

Scotland’s fast-rising Super-Middleweight talent John Docherty aims to make it three KO’s from three fights, Ipswich Heavyweight Fabio Wardley looks to go 6-0, decorated amateur Charles Frankham makes his debut at Super-Featherweight and Hammersmith Light-Heavyweight Dana Zaxo takes part in his fourth professional contest.

RICHARDS – JAKE BALL IS A TIME-WASTER

“I’m back at my natural weight and it’s showing in all aspects of my game. I’m punching with a lot more power in sparring and I’m much more energetic outside of the gym. I’ve got a spring in my step and I’m excited about boxing again.”

RICHARDS – JAKE BALL IS A TIME-WASTER
South Londoner accuses Ball of stalling his career

Craig Richards is desperate to get one over on Jake Ball when the Light-Heavyweight rivals clash for the WBA Continental title in next month’s rearranged grudge fight.

The South Londoner finally locks horns with Ball at The O2 in London on February 2, live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US, after his opponent pulled out of their scheduled fight in October at late notice.

‘Spider’ accepted Ball’s verbal challenge but was left frustrated when the Dominic Ingle-trained fighter took to social media to post pictures of his injured hand on the week of the fight and has questioned whether the Surrey man genuinely wanted to share the ring with him in October.

“I’ve lost a lot of respect for Jake,” said Richards. “The whole saga has been very frustrating. I just want to get the win and move on with my career. This has been dragging on for several months now and it’s time to put an end to it on February 2nd

“All of his silly excuses, all of the delays and rearranged dates – it’s become a hindrance on my career and he’s wasting my time. We’ve become a bit of a comedy act and it’s something that I need to get away from. I’m desperate to beat him and look forward to a big 2019.

“He’s been holding me up for too long now. We tried to reschedule it for December 22nd but it never happened because Dominic Ingle couldn’t be in his corner as he was already busy. There’s been a lot of excuses but there won’t be anywhere to hide next month.

“For me, I’m on a mission, I’m hungry and I want to progress. I’m not sure if Jake shares the same passion and hunger as me. Maybe that’s why he’s messed me around for so long. It’s important for me to channel this frustration properly in the gym and on the night.”

The 28-year-old believes a win over Ball will earn him more title opportunities in the Light-Heavyweight division and says he is feeling the benefits of moving up to the 175lbs limit.

“I’m ready to make my mark in 2019,” said Richards. “This year it’s all about big competitive fights and pushing myself to challenge for more titles. Everything has started to come together nicely and the time for me is now.

“I’m back at my natural weight and it’s showing in all aspects of my game. I’m punching with a lot more power in sparring and I’m much more energetic outside of the gym. I’ve got a spring in my step and I’m excited about boxing again.”

Ball vs. Richards is part of a huge night of action in London.

Bermondsey star Ted Cheeseman steps up again when he challenges undefeated Spaniard Sergio Garcia for the European Super-Welterweight crown.

Undefeated British Cruiserweight Champion Lawrence Okolie returns to action after his win over Matty Askin at Wembley Stadium in September.

Rising Wokingham Middleweight talent Felix Cash fights for his second professional title when he takes on Nigeria’s Abolaji Rasheed for the vacant Commonwealth strap, with more fights to be announced soon.

Tickets for February are available to purchase from StubHub (www.stubhub.co.uk), The O2 (www.theo2.co.uk) and Matchroom Boxing (www.matchroomboxing.com)

RESHAT MATI: I WANT TO BUILD A HUGE NEW YORK FANBASE

“The start of my pro career has been great. It’s a dream come true to be a pro boxer, but my work ethic hasn’t changed, I’ve always trained as hard as I can and leave no stone unturned in the gym – that’s always going to be the way I approach my work.”

MATI: I WANT TO BUILD A HUGE NEW YORK FANBASE
‘Albanian Bear’ ‘thrilled’ to kick off 2019 in the Big Apple

Reshat Mati wants to turn his New York hometown into a fortress as he prepares for to fight for the third time as a pro on Friday January 18 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, live on DAZN in the US and on Sky Sports in the UK.

Mati had feverish support from his fans at the Theater when he moved to 2-0 in October, adding a knockdown to his shutout four round win over Juan Carlos Sepulveda, having stopped Adan Ahumada in three rounds earlier in the month on debut in Chicago.

The former amateur sensation is expecting a busy year as he banks experience in and out of the ring, and while the 20 year old hopes to be on plenty of Matchroom Boxing USA bills across the USA, New York is the place he wants to fight regularly in front of his growing fanbase.

“Making my home debut was so cool – I really want to build something special in New York,” said Mati. “I sold lots of ticket in Chicago and then even more in New York – all the Albanian flags in the crowd looked awesome and I think I put on a good display for them, and I’m thrilled to be starting 2019 back at the same brilliant venue.

“I’m not being cocky, but I’ve already got a really good fan base and I get a lot of them at my fights, and I want to grow that. I want people to see my name on the posters and say ‘I want to watch Reshat Mati’ – that’s my goal, to put on a great show and get lots of fans. But I can fight too, I’m not just a ticket-seller, I have goals in this sport and that’s to reach the top.

“I’m impatient to do it. I know that I have a lot of learning to do but I’m in the right place and I have a great team behind me, so I know I am going to be really active and will learn quickly in the ring and the gym.

“The start of my pro career has been great. It’s a dream come true to be a pro boxer, but my work ethic hasn’t changed, I’ve always trained as hard as I can and leave no stone unturned in the gym – that’s always going to be the way I approach my work.”

Mati’s third fight in the paid ranks is part of a huge night of action in New York as Demetrius Andrade defends his WBO World Middleweight title for the first time against Russian Artur Akavov.

A second World title bout on the card sees Amanda Serrano (35-1-1 26KOs) gunning for history as she looks to land World honors in an extraordinary seventh weight class as she meets WBC and IBF World Super-Flyweight champion Eva Voraberger (24-5 11KOs) – the Austrian tasked with stopping Serrano’s bid for glory.

Former World Lightweight ruler Jorge Linares continues his comeback trail on the card when he meets Pablo Cesar Cano. Linares’ (45-4 28KOs) reign as WBA and Ring Magazine champion was ended in an epic clash with pound-for-pound star Vasily Lomachenko at Madison Square Garden in May, with Linares felling the Ukrainian star in the sixth before being stopped four rounds later.

Linares returned to winning ways in September with a third round stoppage win over Abner Cotto in September in California and starts 2019 with his 50th pro fight against Cano (31-7-1 21KOs), the Mexican former World title challenger who landed the WBC International Silver strap in his last outing in September – and Linares is joined by fellow Golden Boy Boxing star Alexis Rocha (12-0 8KOs), the 21 year old Welterweight talent ready to begin his charge for titles in 2019.

WHYTE VS. CHISORA 2 PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

WHYTE VS. CHISORA 2 PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

Eddie Hearn:”There’s a great narrative for this and we didn’t necessarily need it. The first fight was one of the best 12 rounds of action we have ever seen.

“This is the fight people are talking about on the streets. We will get another unbelievable night on Saturday, there is so much at stake.

“There is a different vibe. They have shared a ring already. Chisora looks unbelievable – the leanest he has ever looked.

“Dillian has improved – he is punching harder. But can he out-box him? It’s about pride. They don’t like each other. It’s about heart. It’s about skill as well, but more about will.”

Adam Smith, Head of Sky Sports Boxing:

“Here we go again. One of the great fights we’ve seen in recent years – two years ago between Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora, it had to happen again.

“A lot of change has happened in those two years. Both of them are coming off terrific victories in the summer on a wonderful night at The O2.

“It’s a massive fight three days before Christmas – a real pre Christmas cracker, December 22nd at The O2 and what a time for the both of them as well with Heavyweight boxing the talk around the World.”

David Haye, CEO of Hayemaker Boxing:

“Derek has had opportunities in the past but hasn’t capitalised. Experience tells him that he needs to work hard, and sacrifice.”When he stands on the scales tomorrow, you will see the difference. I have felt his power and presence and ferocity in the ring.

“He realises a performance like he produced two years ago won’t be good enough to beat the 2018 version of Whyte. The heat brought to Dillian will put him in an uncomfortable zone.

“He will be let off the leash to do some serious damage. I like the energy and intensity of both fighters. Both teams believe they will win this, but I’m glad to be on team Chisora.

“Derek is like a stream train going full steam ahead. This fight can only be better than last time, they’re both fitter and faster.

“It’s got everything to be another fight of the year.”

Dillian Whyte – Brixton, London – 24-1, 17 KO’s – defending his WBC Silver and WBO International Heavyweight titles against Derek Chisora:

“He won’t be pounding me, there’s levels to this thing. I’m used to people trying to get into my head. I don’t think even Derek himself knows what he is doing.

“I’ve had good learning fights and there’s still a lot more to come – I’ll fight anybody. I’ll do whatever it takes to get the win, I conserve my energy, I’m relaxed.

“Let Derek do all the talking, you will see on fight night. There’s a different animal in front of him this time. There will be blood on Saturday night.”

Derek Chisora – Finchley, London – 24-1, 17 KO’s – challenging Dillian Whyte for his WBC Silver and WBO International Heavyweight titles:

“I am born again. I gave my life to the Lord. By doing that, I became a better person. My good friend David put me through my paces.

“I’ve rebuilt and come back. I’m in a great place. It’s going to be a seek and destroy mission on Saturday. Our game-plan is to bite the gum shield, seek and destroy.

“The tables are screwed down so I can’t move them! I won’t do that anymore. I can’t afford rely on the judges. I will pound him, hit him, pound him, hit him.”

Mark Tibbs, trainer of Dillian Whyte:

“99.9% of the time a good boxer will beat a good brawler. He’s not only just a boxer, he’s a boxer fighter. As long as we get it right on the night, which we will do, we will box and fight our way to a very good victory.”

Don Charles, trainer of Derek Chisora:

“Training camp has gone remarkably well. When different teams get together it’s always a gamble, but I can honestly say that it’s gone really well.

“I haven’t got an awful lot to say. Tune in on Saturday night and all will be revealed.”

Joshua Buatsi – Croydon, England – 8-0, 6 KO’s – making the second defence of his WBA International Light-Heavyweight title against Renold Quinlan:

“This is win at all costs. I’ve prepared for ten hard rounds but if I see an opportunity, I’ll be going for it. I feel my team has made it very clear that we’re more than open for these fights.”

Renold Quinlan – Redfern, Australia – 12-3, 8 KO’s – challenging Joshua Buatsi for his WBA International Light-Heavyweight title:

“Jumping up to Light-Heavyweight, I feel stronger and more powerful. Everyone will see a different Renold Quinlan on Saturday night. I want to take that belt back home to Australia.”

Cristofer Rosales – Managua, Nicaragua – 28-3, 19 KO’s – making the second defence of his WBC Flyweight World title against Charlie Edwards:

“We’re extremely excited about the fight ion Saturday, As Charlie said, it’s his dream and he’s hoping for it to come true.

“Well it was my dream and I made it come true, and I don’t want to wake up. I’m here to keep my belt and I won’t leave it here.”

Charlie Edwards – Croydon, England – 13-1, 6 KO’s – challenging Cristofer Rosales for the WBC Flyweight World title:

“Thanks to Rosales for giving me the shot. I haven’t put a lot of pressure on myself. I believe in myself and believe I will take the belt.

“It will be a hard, tough fight, no stone has been left unturned. Two years ago, I was chucked in the deep end and it made me realise what I had to do to become a world level fighter.

“This is my time, this will be a dream come true. I believe this is my time.”

Ryan Walsh – Cromer, England – 22-2-2, 11 KO’s – making the fifth defence of his British Featherweight title against Reece Bellotti:

“I think I have been on the scene a long time. My first British title fight was five years ago.

“I made a point to myself that if this is it, I’m going to be the best British Champion I can be. I’m grateful in some ways that everything has played out this way.

“I sit here and feel I’m the uncrowned European Champion. But I wouldn’t change anything. I think I’ve got a European title in me at least but I’m fully focused on Bellotti this Saturday. It’s going to be a cracker.”

Reece Bellotti – Watford, England – 13-1, 11 KO’s – challenging Ryan Walsh for the British Featherweight title:

“This is a huge fight for me. It was a big lesson against Doyle. It’s not going to be an easy fight but the styles will gel and I’m going in confident.

“I got to a stage in my career where I thought I could blast everyone out. The loss was a big lesson and hopefully I can turn it around.

“Our styles will gel well, I need a good game-plan and have to bring something different.”

David Price – Liverpool, England – 22-6, 18 KO’s – fighting Tom Little in a eight round Heavyweight contest:

“I’ve had a fantastic camp. Tom is a serious fighter. The sparring we’ve done before tells me there’s going to be fireworks from the off. May the best man win.”I’m pleased that I’m fighting someone like Tom Little. Tom is a serious fighter and he’s a test. We do gel as styles, so you can look forward to an excellent fight.

“If I can get the win, which I’m expecting to, you can take care of the rest, Eddie.”

Tom Little – Hatfield, England – 10-6, 3 KO’s – fighting David Price in a eight round Heavyweight contest:“This is a massive opportunity. Everything for me in this sport is a bonus, I’ll go out and let my hands go. I have a heart the size of this building.

“I’m friends with David, he looks in great shape and I’m sure we will deliver a banger. This is a massive step-up, me and David have done many rounds and it was very painful!”

Fabio Wardley – Ipswich, England – 4-0, 3 KO’s – fighting Phil Williams in a four round Heavyweight contest:

“I can’t wait to get out there. Thank you to Dillian for bringing me onboard and giving me the opportunity. This is what I’ve been working towards. I’m ready to go out there and show off on the big stage.”

Linus Udofia – Luton, England – 11-0, 6 KO’s – fighting Pavol Garaj in a six round Middleweight contest:

“Thank you for the opportunity to be here. I didn’t go to the Olympics, didn’t really do too much in the amateurs. I’ve just grafted my way up the hard way and I’m happy to be here. This is what I’ve been grafting for a while for – a chance on the big stage.”

PRICE: I’M LONGING FOR THAT BUZZ OF WINNING AGAIN

“It would be nice to get my hand raised, to get people congratulating me again, rather than commiserating with me. Instead of being the ‘nearly man’ or whatever, you’re a winner again. There’s nothing better than glory in sport. It’s what keeps fighters coming back. It’s that buzz, adulation, and everything that comes with it. It would be a good way to finish the year off.”

PRICE: I’M LONGING FOR THAT BUZZ OF WINNING AGAIN

David Price is desperate to taste victory again after suffering back-to-back defeats against Russia’s Alexander Povetkin and Sergey Kuzmin.

The Liverpudlian giant faces Tom Little on the undercard of Dillian Whyte’s highly-anticipated rematch with Derek Chisora this Saturday at The O2 in London, live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN in the US.

This is potentially the last throw of the dice for Price after a difficult 2018 and the 2008 Olympic bronze medallist plans on taking out Little in style to set-up some huge Heavyweight contests next year.

“I’m longing for that buzz of winning again,” said Price. “This is why Saturday is so important to me. I would love to get some momentum going and put together some good and see where it takes me, and then just go from there.

Price enters this weekend’s eight-round contest as a significant favourite but there’s no danger of him overlooking Little as he battles to keep his career breathing and he insists that the Hatfield man has his full respect.

“This fight is of the utmost importance really,” added Price. “It’s a massive fight that I just can’t afford to lose. It’s everything. Tom is a lot better than his record suggests, put it that way, but I would consider myself a level above him considering I’m a former British Champion and an Olympian.

“That’s not me being disrespectful as me and Tom get on well and we’ve done a hell of a lot of sparring together. He’s definitely bridged the gap from when I first started sparring him. I’m taking him really seriously. I still believe I’ve got something left in me to turn things around. There are that many big names in the Heavyweight division right now, or decent enough names, and everyone needs a dance partner.”

Main event sees fierce Heavyweight rivals Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora rematch after their Fight of the Year contender in December 2016.

Charlie Edwards gets a second shot at a World title when he challenges Cristofer Rosales for the WBC Flyweight World title, rising Croydon star Joshua Buatsi defends his WBA International Light-Heavyweight title against tough Australian Renold Quinlan, British Featherweight Champion Ryan Walsh puts his Lonsdale belt on the line against Watford’s Reece Bellotti, with Ipswich Heavyweight Fabio Wardley and Nigerian Middleweight Linus Udofia also featuring on the undercard.
