SHORE, PIMBLETT PLUS MORE CONFIRMED FOR CW100

Cage Warriors promise to stage the biggest event in the promotions history for CW100, already confirming first names names Paddy Pimblett, Jack Shore, Nicolas Dalby and more for December 8th.

After 16 years of events across the world, it’s almost time for Europe’s leading MMA promotion to mark their 100th event with the biggest names they’ve ever put together on one night.

CW100 will take place on December 8th at Cardiff’s Ice Arena, the venue that recently played host to a sold out crowd at CW97.  Results and summary of CW97 can be seen HERE

After talks with the venue and local authorities, Cage Warriors are delighted to announce they will open the arena up to its absolute maximum capacity to meet the high demand for CW100 and are expecting another quick sell-out. For a very limited time only, tickets have been released with a 20% off early bird discount.

Welsh super-prospect Jack Shore, now unbeaten in 12 amateur and 9 professional fights, will fight for the world bantamweight title.

“I can’t thank the Welsh fans enough for the support they’ve shown me throughout my career, and now its time to finally bring the title home for them,” says Shore. “Cage Warriors in Cardiff was an unforgettable night and CW100 will

top it. I’ll make sure of that.”

Another of Europe’s most talked-about young prospects is Paddy Pimblett, who will also appear at CW100. Pimblett has provided Cage Warriors fans with some of the craziest memories in the promotions 16-year history, and is ready to step up for their biggest night yet.

Pimblett said: “Cage Warriors 100 is a historic night for European MMA and so they need the Baddy there. The Welsh fans always show love so I can’t wait to put on a show for them. Like everyone already knows, I’m never in a boring fight.”

Also confirmed for the CW100 card is the return of UFC vet and former Cage Warriors champion Nicolas Dalby, Northern Irish lightweight Joe McColgan and Welsh fan favourites Josh Reed and Kris Edwards.

The night will also feature a title fight between the finalists of Cage Warriors’ featherweight title tournament, to be decided at CW98 this month. That’s at least two title fights confirmed for December 8th!

“I’m going to have to turn my phone off, because every fighter on the roster is calling me up wanting a piece of CW100,” said Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan. “I can promise fans a night like no other for this one. This event is for everyone who’s followed us on the Cage Warriors journey until now.”

Many more big names are still to be announced. Tickets for CW100 are on sale HERE, with a very limited run of early birds at 20% off. Joint tickets to both CW100 and Polaris 8 (which takes place on Sunday 8th) are also available at a discounted price.

JACK SHORE BRINGS IT HOME – CW97 RESULTS

It was billed as the biggest MMA event in Welsh history, and it lived up to the hype. CW97 gave the sold out crowd at Cardiff’s Ice Arena one of the most explosive European MMA showcases of the year, ending with a huge first-round win for Jack Shore.

After a turbulent twenty-four hours which saw Jack Shore’s previous opponent deemed medically unfit to fight at late notice, the Welsh prospect stepped up a weight class to face Brazilian featherweight Weslley Maia in the main event. Shore didn’t disappoint, weathering the storm of heavy shots that Maia unleashed in the opening round and taking the Brazilian down. From there, he closed the show with some incredible ground and pound from top position.

The noise inside Cardiff’s Ice Arena prove that Jack Shore’s fanbase are truly one of the most notorious in Europe.

In the co-main event, Wales’ Mason Jones gave the home fans another performance that took the roof off the Cardiff Ice Arena. After taking some heavy shots that nearly handed him the first loss of his career in the opening seconds, Jones fired back in the clinch with a barrage of devastating strikes that kept his undefeated streak intact.

Before that, a hard-fought win for Belgium’s Brian Bouland put him back in the win column with a unanimous decision victory over home favourite Kris Edwards.

A third main-card win for Wales came when Aaron Khalid submitted Jamie Richardson in the very first round, staking his claim as a top name to watch in the Welterweight division. He’ll no doubt have his eye on the Welterweight title fight between Stefano Paterno and Ross Houston at CW98 in Birmingham next month.

Italy’s Micol DiSegni went to war with young Welsh Prospect Cory McKenna and put on a striking masterclass to edge the split decision. DiSegni joins the stellar list of Italian’s doing big things with Cage Warriors, alongside champions Stefano Paterno and Mauro Cerilli.

Highlights from the pro prelims included a first round knockout win for Steve Aimable, who stepped up on late notice despite already being confirmed to fight at Cage Warriors 99 in Colchester. Keep an eye out for Aimable’s fight-ending power at the Charter Hall on November 17th. To start the night, amateur prospects Christian Duncan, Jordan Peake and Chris Sterling all picked up impressive wins to advance to the finals of the Cage Warriors Academy Grand Prix at CW100. That’s two wins for the South East Academy and one for the Welsh, with the above fighters taking on finalists from the North West England and Irish Academies on December 8th.

Cage Warriors next event takes them to Birmingham’s Genting Arena for CW98, headlined by a Welterweight title fight between champion Stefano Paterno and Ross Houston, with a featherweight title eliminator tournament also on the card. After that, CW99 in Colchester and the historic CW100 back in the Cardiff Ice Arena close off a huge year for Europe’s leading MMA promotion.

What’s more, with 3 events in 15 days just announced for the beginning of 2019 in Liverpool, London and Copenhagen, Cage Warriors’ mission to showcase the best in European MMA is showing no signs of slowing.

THE STAGE IS SET FOR CW97

All results from yesterday’s CW97 Iso-Sport weigh ins at the Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff.

The stage is set for the biggest MMA event in Welsh history here in Cardiff.

Yesterday, it was announced that Omer Cankardesler was removed from the CW97 card due to a failed medical examination. Welsh super-prospect Jack Shore will now move up a weight class to face the Brazilian Weslley ‘Pia’ Maia in a featherweight non-title bout.

Despite the change in opponent, an electrifying atmosphere is expected when tomorrow night’s main event kicks off in front of a sold-out crowd in Wales’ capital city.

The CW97 co-main event will go ahead as planned, as Mason Jones and Kacper Formela successfully came in at 155.9 lbs and 154.6 lbs respectively.

Former title challenger Brian Bouland made 135.9 lbs successfully for his bout with Welshman Kris Edwards. Edwards weighed in over the bantamweight limit at 136.9lbs and will be fined 50% of his purse. Bouland knocked out Edwards’ teammate Josh Reed at CW91, so there’s redemption at stake as well as glory in Cardiff tomorrow night.

Another hugely exciting clash – and the early critics’ pick for fight of the night – takes place between Jamie Richardson (172.2 lbs) vs Aaron Khalid (171.2 lbs), both coming in under their catchweight limit of 173 lbs.

In the women’s straw weight division, young Welsh up-and-comer Cory McKenna (115.8 lbs) faces a stern test in Italy’s Micol DiSegni (115.4 lbs).

The CW97 Main Card (from 9pm) will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1 and UFC Fight Pass, with the pro prelims streamed LIVE and FREE from 7pm via The Sport Bible Facebook page.

BIGGEST MMA EVENT IN WELSH HISTORY COMES TO CARDIFF

This Saturday night, Cage Warriors bring the biggest MMA event in Welsh history to Cardiff’s Ice Arena. Here’s the full CW97 fight card, the bouts you should be looking out for and how to watch from home.

In the CW97 main event, Welsh local hero Jack Shore takes on Germany’s Omer Cankardesler for the Cage Warriors bantamweight title. Still unbeaten in 12 amateur and 8 professional showings, Shore is leading the horde of Welsh warriors fighting to put the country on the MMA map this year, but Cankardesler’s run of TKO finishes proves he’s more than capable of stealing the win from Cardiff this weekend.

The title on the line at CW97 was formerly held by Welshman and now UFC bantamweight Brett Johns, who became champion during Cage Warriors’ last visit to Cardiff in 2013.

“When our previous Welsh champions went for the belts, they were some of the most memorable nights we’ve had in 15 years,” says Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan. “Jack Shore has managed to assemble a Welsh fanbase on a level we’ve never really seen before. Think McGregor in Dublin – this is going to be massive.”

Also fighting for Wales are young prospects Cory McKenna and Mason Jones, who are taking on their toughest opposition yet. At just 18 years of age, McKenna boasts a perfect amateur record and is currently 2-0 as a pro, and has been hailed the future of women’s MMA by notable names such as the UFC’s Urijah Faber. Standing in her way is Italy’s Micol DiSegni, who is on a 4-fight win streak with 3 of those being dominant finishes in the early rounds.

Mason Jones takes on Poland’s Kacper Formela in a highly anticipated lightweight bout between two ferocious finishers. Jones is still undefeated, but Formela has put his last 3 opponents away within the distance and looks more than capable of spoling the Welshman’s clean sheet. Expect a seriously fast pace throughout this one. Also on the main card is Kris Edwards, long-time training partner of both Jack Shore and the UFC’s Jack Marshman, who meets Brian Bouland in the bantamweight division. Bouland fell short of the title earlier this year and is looking for another devastating knockout to put him back in the top contender spot, but Edwards’ 4-fight win streak proves he’s in the prime of his career.

As well as these huge bouts on CW97’s main card, the night will feature a stacked pro preliminary card plus the semi-finals of Cage Warriors’ Academy Grand Prix, which will crown Amateur tournament winners in every division before the end of 2018.

Less than 5% of tickets to CW97 are still available HERE, and are expected to sell out early this week.

Doors open at 3:30pm, with the pro prelims starting at 7pm and the main card getting underway at 9pm.
