7 NEW FIGHTS CONFIRMED FOR IRISH RETURN

7 NEW FIGHTS CONFIRMED FOR IRISH RETURN

The CW110 card is stacking up, with opponents now confirmed for Ireland’s Ian Garry, Decky McAleenan and more.

Cage Warriors’ long-awaited return to Ireland is less than a month away.

On November 9th, many of Ireland’s hottest rising stars head to the Cork Neptune Stadium for an electric night of fights in the Rebel County.

A new list of signed bouts includes an exciting lightweight clash between Irish prospect Ian Garry and Poland’s Mateusz Figlak. Both men are undefeated in their first 2 professional fights, and head to CW110 fresh off the back of first-round finishes in their last outings.

Garry trains under the guidance of two former Cage Warriors champions in Chris Fields and Cathal Pendred, and promises another unforgettable performance on November 9th.

Also just confirmed on the card is Irishman Decky McAleenan, who splits his fight camps between Newry and California, where he trains alongside UFC legend Urijah Faber. He’ll take on Jared Southwell of Wrexham, Wales.

A number of Cork natives will walk out for the home crowd, including John Mitchell and Jack Maguire, both making their Cage Warriors debuts against travelling opposition.

In the CW110 main event, top Northern Irish name Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee welcomes Norwegian challenger Håkon Foss to the Emerald Isle in what promises to be a headline fight to remember.

Cork native and Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan has confirmed that he has big plans for his promotion’s return to Ireland, and is set to play an integral role in developing the sport once again.

“Our mission hasn’t changed,” says Boylan. “We’re coming back to offer the top talent in Ireland a chance to shine and showcase their skills to the world.”

Paddy Pimblett vs Donovan Desmae set for CW111

PADDY PIMBLETT VS DONOVAN DESMAE SET FOR CW111

After over a year out of the cage due to injury, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett returns to face Belgian knockout artist Donovan Desmae at CW111.

As first reported by Ariel Helwani, the huge lightweight bout will take place at the London Indigo at the O2 on November 22nd.

Pimblett (14-3) has provided Cage Warriors fans with some of the most memorable scenes in the promotion’s history, with the highlight of his career undoubtedly being his knockout win over Johnny Frachey which won him the World Featherweight Title at CW78.

Standing in his way on December 8th is a formidable force: Donovan Desmae (14-5) of Red Kings MMA in Belgium, who’s record includes dominant wins over Tim Barnett and former title contenders Alexander Jacobsen and Aiden Lee.

‘The Baddy’ is known for his spectacular fight style, and pulled off a highlight-reel flying triangle submission at CW90 in February last year – his 10th finish since his pro debut in 2012.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Pimblett said: “The comeback’s happening.

“I was scheduled to fight Donovan in December last year, and I said when I had to pull out that if he wants the fight when I come back, then he can have it. I’m a man of my word.

“Everything happens for a reason, because Donovan’s now the number one contender. I’ll come back, take Donovan out and then I’ll be coming for that belt.”

The CW111 card will also feature two world title fights, with James Webb and Mads Burnell defending their belts in the middleweight and featherweight divisions.

CW101 full fight card and broadcast details

Cage Warriors 101 fight week has begun. This Saturday February 16th, Europe’s leading MMA promotion kick off what promises to be a massive 2019 with their first show of the year at Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre.

A brand new Cage Warriors venue will host ten professional fights this weekend for Liverpool fight fans, with a heavyweight clash between Tom Aspinall and Sofiane Boukichou topping the bill.

Aspinall is fast becoming one of the most talked-about heavyweight fighters on the North West scene, having finished every one of his professional wins within the distance. He’s a long-time training partner of UFC Welterweight contender Darren Till, and a former sparring partner of unbeaten British boxing superstar Tyson Fury.

He faces a stern test in the more experienced Frenchman Boukichou, who is currently riding a four-fight win streak and finished his last two Cage Warriors fights with both knockout and submission.

Also on the main card in a fight that’s sure to have the Liverpool crowd on it’s feet, two local fighters meet in a Merseyside Derby when Adam Ventre takes on Tim Barnett. Ventre has had great success in his recent bouts in the Cage Warriors Academy North West, picking up 3 back-to-back finish wins to take his record to 7-3. He’s yet another prospect fighting out of Next Generation MMA, home of former Cage Warriors champions (and now UFC stars) Molly McCann and Chris Fishgold, both of which will be meeting fans alongside UFC legend Dan Hardy and Octagon Girl Edith Labelle at the CW101 Meet and Greet from 8.20PM.

Tim Barnett, who trains out of Liverpool’s MMA Academy, has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting strikers and is looking to get back to winning ways after a loss to Alex Lohoré at CW100.

Other Liverpool names on the card include former middleweight title challenger Mick Stanton and bantamweight prospect Bryan Creighton, who makes his first Cage Warriors Liverpool appearance in six years.

And that’s not all. Before the CW101 pro card, a seven-fight Cage Warriors Academy North West card will showcase the top amateur talent from Liverpool and across Europe from 5PM.

Doors at the Exhibition Centre open at 4.30PM. The last remaining CW101 tickets are available HERE.

IMMAF-WMMAA Unified World Championships DAY 3 RESULTS

Results from Day 3 of the 2019 IMMAF-WMMAA Unified World Championships at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Manama Bahrain.

Taking place as part of BRAVE International Combat Week, the 5-day, nation vs nation, amateur MMA tournament features 362 competitors from more than 50 nations across 16 weight divisions. The Junior tournament (for 18 to 20-year olds) is running concurrently with the Senior Championships (for 18s+) and both events take place under Unified Amateur MMA Rules.

Starting with four MMA rings for Days 1 to 3 (12 – 14 November), three rings will remain in action for Day 3 – Semi-Finals (15 November), while the Finals (17 November) of both tournaments will play out in one ring interspersed with Medals Ceremonies.

Two rings (and one for the Finals) will be streamed live each day at IMMAF.TV, while videos-on-demand for ALL matches will be uploaded to the platform during the week and the week after. Delay in upload of VODs has unfortunately been caused by internet issues due to rare storms and flooding in Manama earlier in the week, for which the IMMAF – WMMAA team apologises.

The Championships is hosted by the Bahrain MMA Federation and endorsed by the Bahrain Olympic Committee and H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al Khalifa.
