CW101 full fight card and broadcast details

Cage Warriors 101 fight week has begun. This Saturday February 16th, Europe’s leading MMA promotion kick off what promises to be a massive 2019 with their first show of the year at Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre.

A brand new Cage Warriors venue will host ten professional fights this weekend for Liverpool fight fans, with a heavyweight clash between Tom Aspinall and Sofiane Boukichou topping the bill.

Aspinall is fast becoming one of the most talked-about heavyweight fighters on the North West scene, having finished every one of his professional wins within the distance. He’s a long-time training partner of UFC Welterweight contender Darren Till, and a former sparring partner of unbeaten British boxing superstar Tyson Fury.

He faces a stern test in the more experienced Frenchman Boukichou, who is currently riding a four-fight win streak and finished his last two Cage Warriors fights with both knockout and submission.

Also on the main card in a fight that’s sure to have the Liverpool crowd on it’s feet, two local fighters meet in a Merseyside Derby when Adam Ventre takes on Tim Barnett. Ventre has had great success in his recent bouts in the Cage Warriors Academy North West, picking up 3 back-to-back finish wins to take his record to 7-3. He’s yet another prospect fighting out of Next Generation MMA, home of former Cage Warriors champions (and now UFC stars) Molly McCann and Chris Fishgold, both of which will be meeting fans alongside UFC legend Dan Hardy and Octagon Girl Edith Labelle at the CW101 Meet and Greet from 8.20PM.

Tim Barnett, who trains out of Liverpool’s MMA Academy, has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting strikers and is looking to get back to winning ways after a loss to Alex Lohoré at CW100.

Other Liverpool names on the card include former middleweight title challenger Mick Stanton and bantamweight prospect Bryan Creighton, who makes his first Cage Warriors Liverpool appearance in six years.

And that’s not all. Before the CW101 pro card, a seven-fight Cage Warriors Academy North West card will showcase the top amateur talent from Liverpool and across Europe from 5PM.

Doors at the Exhibition Centre open at 4.30PM. The last remaining CW101 tickets are available HERE.

EGGAN: “I WANT TO MAKE BOXING LOOK PRETTY”

“I respect every opponent, but all my focus is on me. I can’t do anything about my opponents, so I don’t waste my thoughts on them. I will need to bring my A-game as I know Radnic is a good boxer. I’m looking forward to sharing the ring with him, and I hope we have a great and entertaining fight.”

EGGAN: “I WANT TO MAKE BOXING LOOK PRETTY”

Anders Eggan (3-0, 1 KO) will face Frane Radnic (11-11, 10 KOs) on the undercard of Kai Robin Havnaa’s hometown cruiserweight showdown with Rad ‘Thunder’ Rashid on March 2 at the SØR Amfi in Arendal.

Eggan is a former Norwegian national and Nordic junior amateur champion, who has also competed at both World and European Amateur Championships.

Having made his professional debut on October 21, 2017, with a unanimous points win over Lewis van Poetsch in Stokke, the 23 year-old has gone on to claim victories over Dumitru Nicu Manea in La Nucia, Spain and Maksym Onyshchenko at the Kolstad Arena in his hometown of Trondheim

“I’m really excited for this fight. I feel really good, and I love to fight in front of a Norwegian crowd. I’ve heard that the people in Arendal make a lot of noise, so I want to bring an exciting fight with high entertainment value,” says Eggan ahead of his six-round clash with Croatia’s Frane Radnic.

Radnic has recorded ten of his eleven victories inside the distance, an impressive statistic, but not something Eggan admits to being worried about.

“It is what it is,” he says. “I’m used to fighting powerful boxers so I’m not worried. It’s all part of the game. I’ll bring my best boxing, and that’ll be enough.

“I plan to do a lot of physical training for this fight, so I can come in stronger than ever. I want to give the crowd power and technique combined! I also have a lot of different sparring partners that will help me with my preparations.

“I promise an entertaining fight. I like to entertain and I love to bring excitement. I’m not scared to take risks. I want to make boxing look pretty.”

Boxing is not Eggan’s only profession, and when out of the ring, he is equally comfortable in front of a camera working as a professional model.

“I like the combination of modelling and boxing,” he says. “Boxing is my main priority, and I love a good brawl, but as said, I want to make boxing look pretty!”

Kai Robin Havnaa returns to the SØR Amfi in Arendal on March 2 to headline his hometown arena in his toughest career test against Rad Rashid.

Hadi Srour meets Zoltan Szabo in a six-round super lightweight contest, while middleweight Anders Eggan takes on Frane Radnic also over six-rounds.

CHEESEMAN: FOWLER IS SMALL FRY ONCE I’VE GOT THE EUROPEAN TITLE

“Once you win a European title, there’s only one step up after that,” said Cheeseman. “When you turn pro, your goal is to become a World Champion. If I win this fight on February 2, and I’m very confident that I will after studying my opponent’s style, I’m basically in line for a World title shot.

CHEESEMAN: FOWLER IS SMALL FRY ONCE I’VE GOT THE EUROPEAN TITLE
‘The Big Cheese’ says Super-Welter rivals need to earn the right to face him

Ted Cheeseman says Super-Welterweight rivals Anthony Fowler and Scott Fitzgerald must “step up to the plate” and “earn the right” to face him as he prepares for the biggest test of his career next week in London.

The Bermondsey star jumps up in class again when he challenges undefeated Spaniard Sergio Garcia for the EBU European crown at The O2 on February 2, shown live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US.

Former GB teammates Fowler and Fitzgerald put their unbeaten records on the line when they clash in one of the most highly-anticipated domestic showdowns of the year in March, with a potential shot at Cheeseman’s British title on the line, but the champ is looking to step up again once he wins the European title.

“Once you win a European title, there’s only one step up after that,” said Cheeseman. “When you turn pro, your goal is to become a World Champion. If I win this fight on February 2, and I’m very confident that I will after studying my opponent’s style, I’m basically in line for a World title shot.

“Garcia is ranked highly with the governing bodies. Once I win this European title I’m going to have a top five World ranking with most of them, or top ten at least. He’s number 4 in the WBC rankings so I’ll take that top five spot with them. When I win next week, the World will be my oyster and I’ll only be looking ahead of me.”

‘The Big Cheese’ is on an upward trajectory after outpointing Asinia Byfield in an all-action battle for the Lonsdale belt at the Copper Box Arena in October. A fight with Liverpool’s Fowler is in high demand with the British public, and Cheeseman has previously expressed his desire to settle his feud with ‘The Machine’, but the 23-year-old wants to keep his options open ahead of a huge 2019.

“There’s a lot of potential fights being talked about and I want them to happen, but all of my focus is on performing well against Garcia and getting the win. Fowler is small fry once I’ve got the European title. What does he bring to the table, a 9-0 record against journeymen? What has he actually done? Fowler needs me, not the other way round.

“Both him and Fitzgerald need to step up to the plate and do something to earn the right to face me. They’ve got to bring something to the table. I’ll be British and European Champion with top five World ranking. What do they bring to the table? I’d need to make sure that a fight with Fowler or Fitzgerald isn’t just good for them, it’s good for me as well.

“This game is all about opportunities. There’s some massive fights to be made but it’s got to be the right opportunity for me. Maybe the Fowler fight gets made, maybe it doesn’t. Liam Smith just signed with Matchroom, he’s another Super-Welterweight. Kell Brook is in my weight class now. They are looking for other British opponents and I’m the main man on the domestic scene. These are all fights that could happen later this year.”

Garcia vs. Cheeseman tops a huge night of action in London.

Unbeaten British Cruiserweight Champion Lawrence Okolie returns to action after his win over Matty Askin at Wembley Stadium in September.

Bitter Light-Heavyweight rivals Jake Ball and Craig Richards finally face-off in a highly-anticipated grudge match for the WBA Continental title.

Rising Wokingham Middleweight talent Felix Cash fights for his second professional title when he takes on Nigeria’s Abolaji Rasheed for the vacant Commonwealth title.

Scotland’s fast-rising Super-Middleweight talent John Docherty aims to make it three KO’s from three fights, Ipswich Heavyweight Fabio Wardley looks to go 6-0, decorated amateur Charles Frankham makes his debut at Super-Featherweight and Hammersmith Light-Heavyweight Dana Zaxo takes part in his fourth professional contest.

Tickets for February 2 are available to purchase from StubHub (www.stubhub.co.uk), The O2 (www.theo2.co.uk) and Matchroom Boxing (www.matchroomboxing.com)
